When I was a young boy I was mad keen on the Victor comic and the Victor annual, better known as the Victor Book for Boys. I used to live for Mondays when the comic came out and wait impatiently for 12 months until the next annual came along ! The first Victor Book for Boys was published in 1964 when I was 8 years old. The last was published 30 years later.
My interest was not just restricted to the Victor Book.
The Victor Book for Boys, Warlord, Hotspur, The Beezer, The Beano and Dandy all featured in my days as a youngster.
Now many years later they still do.
In 2000 I decided to start collecting the Victor Book as an investment. I spent hours scouring the internet for the annuals and was quite sucessful there. I spent hours and hours searching charity shops in the UK but only ever found 1 Victor Book in very good condition - the rest had torn pages, ripped spines, were price clipped, defaced etc - no use to the collector. Over a period of time I managed to obtain a complete set of the books, all in very good or better condition.
This inspired me to publish a website dedicated to collecting the Victor Book - www.victorbook.info
I have now expanded my activities to collecting more books - Warlord, Hotspur and the Beezer.
As my earlier website was quite well received, I decided to amalgamate it into a new site that includes all the books I am collecting. As a result this website was born. I am sure more titles will be added later.
As with the earlier site, this website lists all of the books and annuals of a particular title that are on sale at Amazon. It makes life a lot easier for you as they are all just a click away.
In addition to the books that are for sale there is a 'buyers guide'. There are also images of all the books and annuals which can help when collecting for a set. More images are being added regularly.
Please note that Amazon is a tried and tested company of massive proportions. They have millions of satisfied customers, with me being one of them. If you have not got an account with them it's easy to get. Just click on the Amazon logo on the left, or on any of the books shown for sale. You will then be able to create an account on the Amazon site.
Now is a great time to invest in a collection, the credit crunch has caused prices to fall and there are bargains to be had !
Have fun !
